Nixon Peabody

Working together from design to commissioning

Law firms are a special type of client, with very specific requirements for technology, employee comfort, and energy efficiency. For this 25,000 sq. ft. expansion project for Nixon Peabody, our engineering, technology and commissioning teams worked together to make sure we met those requirements.

Our technology team designed three new telecom rooms. This included the replacement of all communications cabling on three floors, relocating the existing server room, and the installing new backbone cabling from the new server room to six telecommunications rooms.

As part of this project, Nixon Peabody also migrated to a new voice over IP telephone system. What made this more interesting was that the majority of the work was conducted in a live occupied environment to prevent any downtime. Our technology team was responsible for project management and the coordination of all installation and relocation activities.

Our commissioning team worked closely with our MEP engineering team to commission the MEP systems for LEED LEED certification. We focused on long-term energy and maintenance cost reductions and were able to realize many opportunities for Nixon Peabody to save energy and maintenance costs. For example, WB was able to help Nixon Peabody reduce energy costs by making modifications to the IT cooling system. By implementing our recommended changes, noise levels and energy consumption were decreased. This meant a savings and a quieter workspace.
