ABOUT THE PROJECT

Verizon needed to replace emergency power infrastructure at one of its telecommunications facilities in New York City. The facility was operating on a temporary trailer-mounted generator while our team developed a permanent solution. In addition to eliminating ongoing rental costs associated with temporary power, Verizon needed a new emergency power system that would provide long-term reliability and support uninterrupted telecommunications services within the facility.

OUR SOLUTION

To support Verizon on this project, we:

  • Designed the replacement of two existing rooftop generators with a new 750 kW emergency generator to provide reliable backup power for the facility.
  • Engineered the necessary electrical infrastructure upgrades to support the new generator and integrate it into the facility’s existing emergency power distribution system.
  • Designed new fuel pumps and risers to connect the generator to the existing fuel storage infrastructure.
  • Incorporated a permanent portable generator connection box, allowing Verizon to quickly connect temporary backup power in the future and providing additional flexibility during maintenance or emergency events.

THE IMPACT

Through our work on this project, we strengthened the reliability of Verizon’s telecommunications infrastructure by providing emergency power systems that support the continuous delivery of communications services across its network.
