ABOUT THE PROJECT

A confidential telecommunications provider installed a new emergency generator and expanded its backup power infrastructure at one of its network and office facilities. Because the facility supports telecommunications operations, a key project goal was ensuring the new system would perform reliably during utility outages to maintain network availability and service continuity. To provide an independent assessment of the generator, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and associated control systems, the client engaged our team to perform third-party commissioning services.

OUR SOLUTION

We supported this client on this project by:

  • Providing independent third-party commissioning services for a new emergency generator installation and associated backup power infrastructure.
  • Verifying the performance of five ATSs to confirm emergency power was delivered to the appropriate building systems during utility power interruptions.
  • Performing detailed functional testing of individual system components to confirm proper installation, programming, and operation before integrated system testing.
  • Conducting an integrated systems test to verify that the generator, ATSs, controls, and monitoring systems operated together as intended during simulated power loss conditions.
  • Identifying system deficiencies during testing, validating corrective actions, and retesting equipment to confirm all issues were resolved before completing the project.

Coordinating testing activities outside normal business hours to minimize disruption within the occupied facility.

THE IMPACT

Through our commissioning services, our team helped ensure the facility’s emergency power infrastructure would perform as intended during utility outages, supporting reliable service and reinforcing the client’s commitment to dependable telecommunications service.
