Our team worked with Lincoln Property Company to assess a Washington, DC office building for compliance with the city’s Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS). The project aimed to identify a viable compliance pathway and evaluate system performance to meet DC’s energy and carbon reduction requirements.
Through an ASHRAE Level 2 energy audit, we evaluated four available pathways to compliance – Performance, Standard Target, Prescriptive, and Alternative Compliance – and determined that the building qualified for the Performance Pathway based on reducing energy consumption by 20% over five years.
As part of the assessment, we also identified a series of Energy Efficiency Measures (EEMs) that would further improve performance and reduce operating costs. Key recommendations included:
