ABOUT THE PROJECT
A confidential defense client hired our Technical Advisory team to lead the consolidation and relocation of its headquarters and mission-critical program areas. The existing facility was approaching a hard lease expiration, requiring the client to vacate by a fixed date. This presented a complex challenge of relocating secure program spaces, SCIF environments, engineering teams, and administrative groups to two receiving sites, while maintaining uninterrupted operations for active defense programs.
OUR SOLUTION
We provided strategic guidance and technical oversight, supported by program management, to keep the project aligned with operational goals and schedule expectations. This included:
- Analyzing utilization patterns and evaluating multiple sites to determine the most efficient relocation plan.
- Supporting real estate decision-making by overseeing lease negotiations and landlord coordination, and preparing RFPs for design, construction, IT, and relocation partners.
- Advising on secure facility requirements, including SCIF transition strategies and the associated accreditation and installation needs.
- Guiding technical infrastructure decisions at receiving sites, including Tier II electrical design, in-row chilled water cooling, and redundancy strategies for high-density compute.
- Providing construction oversight, including schedule tracking, procurement support, governance coordination, and resolution of unexpected site conditions.
- Overseeing modernization of inherited base building systems at the one of the facilities, including boiler replacement, exhaust upgrades, restroom renovations, DDC conversion, and backflow prevention.
- Sequencing all work around active defense programs and adjusting plans as needs shifted to maintain continuity and security.
