MY EXPERIENCE AT ISPE

The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) held their 2022 Facilities of the Future Conferences in North Bethesda, Maryland this week. The conference focuses on a relevant theme each year, with this year’s centered around the COVID-19 response. During this conference, I had a chance to connect with and listen to leaders of the pharmaceutical industry.

One presentation that was fascinating was the Emerging Technologies II session. BARDA (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority) presented a seminar called Domestic Infrastructure and Capacity: The Pandemic Impact. They explained how they worked with the Department of Defense and vaccine companies to implement ‘never done before’ strategies to successfully develop and manufacture the vaccine under the Warp Speed Initiative. It was a highlight for me at the conference. Overall, it was an eventful two days learning new insights in the life sciences industry.

Up next, I will be attending, as well as, speaking at the 2022 SCUP Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference. My presentation, Future Proofing Educational Facilities by Improving Indoor Air Quality, will be on March 10, 2022.
