ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) partnered with our team to support the re-stacking of office space within two academic buildings on campus. The university sought to reorganize and refresh existing office environments to better support evolving organizational needs. The projects required close coordination with MIT facilities teams and careful planning to navigate the layered review and approval processes typical of higher education environments.

OUR SOLUTION

As part of these re-stack projects, we:

  • Designed mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and fire alarm systems to support updated office layouts, including open office areas, conference rooms, pantries, and IT rooms.
  • Reconfigured building systems across entire floor plates to reflect new space planning while maintaining campus standards and code compliance.
  • Coordinated closely with the architect and MIT facilities teams to meet budget goals and guide designs through multi-step campus reviews.
  • Provided commissioning services to verify system performance and confirm operational readiness prior to occupancy.

THE IMPACT

Our design helped MIT transition existing office space into environments better suited for current organizational needs. Commissioning confirmed that systems were operating as intended and reinforced long-term reliability for campus operations.
