First Citizens Bank HVAC Infrastructure Replacement

ABOUT THE PROJECT

First Citizens Bank worked with our team to upgrade the mechanical and electrical infrastructure at its five-story corporate headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina. The facility serves as a primary operational hub and must remain fully functional during emergencies. The goal was to replace outdated systems with reliable infrastructure that would improve energy efficiency and safety and maintain continuous operations during power interruptions.

OUR SOLUTION

As part of a replacement of the building’s HVAC and supporting systems, we:

• Installed three new air-cooled cooling towers, three condenser water pumps, and five air handling units to enhance building-wide cooling and indoor air quality.
• Designed and implemented a new BMS to centralize control of HVAC and lighting systems and improve operational efficiency.
• Upgraded the electrical infrastructure, including switchgear renovation, a new fire alarm system, and a triple-switch generator connection for seamless temporary power hook-up.
• Conducted an electrical arc flash study and designed a roof lightning protection system to increase safety and reliability.
• Integrated new lighting control systems to enhance energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
• Pre-purchased major HVAC equipment to overcome supply chain challenges and maintain a strict delivery schedule.
• Provided full commissioning services to ensure optimal performance and compliance with the client’s operational and safety requirements.

We delivered an infrastructure system that ensures First Citizens Bank’s headquarters can operate continuously during power outages or emergencies and provides improved comfort and energy performance.
