ABOUT THE PROJECT
AstraZeneca renovated one of their corporate facilities to support secure operations and continuous occupancy. A key priority for AstraZeneca was upgrading the building’s telecom and electronic security infrastructure. Unlike typical interior fit-outs, the project required coordination with external service providers to design and implement new outside plant infrastructure to bring telecom services into the building.
OUR SOLUTION
We supported AstraZeneca through IT consulting, telecommunications design, and security engineering services, including:
- Designing an outside cabling and service provider interface plan, coordinating with carriers such as Verizon and AT&T to route fiber infrastructure from the site perimeter to a dedicated demarcation room.
- Extending telecom infrastructure from the demarcation point to the Main Distribution Frame (MDF), then distributing connectivity across all three floors to maintain consistent network access throughout the building.
- Supporting phased floor fit-outs by designing structured cabling to workstations, conference rooms, and shared spaces while maintaining live operations.
- Engineering redundant network pathways and inter-room connectivity so that outages from one service provider could automatically fail over to another, preserving continuous connectivity for building systems.
- Designing electronic security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection, to secure entrances, roof access points, and critical areas.
- Integrating access control with surveillance systems to support incident review and monitoring, while enabling event-based recording to reduce unnecessary data storage.
- Designing a scalable security camera infrastructure capable of supporting advanced analytics and future feature upgrades without requiring equipment replacement.

The upgraded IT and electronic security infrastructure provides AstraZeneca with a scalable, resilient technology backbone that supports continuous operations in an occupied facility and positions the building for future system enhancements.
