Defining a career
Unsure of what career to pursue, the first job Terrence took was drafting (in the days of hand drafting). He worked hard (still does), so his supervisor encouraged him to study engineering. That advice, and his willingness to push himself hard, has led to a successful career.
A NY minute
As a project manager, a typical day means plenty of calls and meeting, design work, overseeing his team, and developing new business. The varied responsibilities and the fast pace are what keep it interesting.
A memorable project
One of Terrence’s most memorable projects is the design of the fire protection systems for One Soho Square. The project involves merging two buildings, adding stories to one of them, and creating a shared core. We needed to remove the fire protection tank to accommodate the addition, but by code, a building has to have an active FP system. Terrence’s solution was to share a system between both buildings. The client was very pleased when the FDNY approved this unconventional solution.
