How things work
Stemming from a curiosity early in life about how things work, Allen realized that he could be successful as an engineer. And that has certainly turned out to be true. A senior level mechanical engineer, Allen works on many of our complex infrastructure projects.
A typical day
Allen’s typical day includes working on multiple design assignments, coordinating work with clients, reviewing shop drawings and collaborating with our teams. Getting everything done in a reasonable workday isn’t easy, but it is key to avoiding sudden increases in blood pressure!
A memorable project
The renovation of Verizon’s downtown communications hub at 104 Broad Street is one of Allen’s most memorable projects. The damage from Superstorm Sandy meant that 90% of the MEP infrastructure needed to be retrofitted. The scope included replacing chillers, pumps and cooling towers, adding generators and upgrading the building’s air handling systems.
