Meet the WB team

Peter DeBernardo, PE, DECP

They give me the tough stuff

Sometimes it feels like I get the projects that no one else wants to deal with. The ones where a standard solution isn’t going to work. This can be fairly daunting, but really, I love it. I’m an academic – and it feels really good to be able to put that to solving engineering problems.

Speaking of being an academic…

I have an undergraduate degree and a masters from The Cooper Union. It was a great academic experience. Small classes, being surrounded by intelligent peers, and the chance to work one-on-one with the professors.

Working at the World Trade Center

I worked as an operating engineer at the World Trade Center. It gave me an incredible background in being able to understand how systems work – and what happens when they don’t. I enjoyed the experience, but when Dave invited me to join WB, it was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up.

Being a DCEP

Data centers are such huge energy hogs, it’s really important to do whatever we can from an engineering perspective to reduce energy consumption. The US Department of Energy developed a certification program to qualify people in identifying energy efficiency opportunities. There are less than 200 certified professionals in the country, and three at WB. I love mission critical work, so I’m proud to be one of them.

A quiet moment

If I had an entire day off to myself, I’d take my dog and my camper up north and just enjoy the serenity.

Our founders. Our leaders. The visionaries. The people who take the final ownership for our work. David, Vinny, Peter, Peter, Mike, Tom and Craig have a great balance of experience and ideas. They are Improving The Way Things Are Done everyday, and making sure that we do, too.
