Meet the WB team
Jimmy Sneed, PE
Before I was an engineer
I come from a family of coal miners, so when I graduated high school I went straight to work at the local mine in Southwestern Virginia. I was the Equipment Operator for about five years before I started thinking about changing my path. The only part I miss is the commute – it took 30 minutes to go three miles underground every morning.
When I’m not in the office
I’m usually playing softball. Fifteen years ago I started the non-profit “Virginia Vipers Softball Club for Veterans.” We play about 250 games a year and raise money for wounded warriors and troops overseas. I’m the third baseman and Sitting Director of the organization. It takes up a good amount of my time outside of the office.
If I could learn anything…
I’d learn to play some sort of musical instrument - probably the guitar. I love music (especially country music), but have no natural talent for it. It could have something to do with the dominant left-brained engineer in me, but I’d like to think I’m balanced enough to be somewhere in the middle rather than one or the other.
Why I love what I do
I’m a problem solver. I enjoy figuring out solutions. Our clients often see measurable results based on the solutions that we find, that feels great. I find satisfaction in knowing that I can positively impact the lives and comfort of the people who live or work in the spaces that we design.
Never far from the fun
I can be serious, but I also like to have my fun – and I think that having that balance is really important. My coworkers know firsthand that I enjoy innocent pranks, and I’m never far from the fun. Watch out for those Nerf dart guns at my desk!
Our founders. Our leaders. The visionaries. The people who take the final ownership for our work. David, Vinny, Peter, Peter, Mike, Tom and Craig have a great balance of experience and ideas. They are Improving The Way Things Are Done everyday, and making sure that we do, too.
