Meet the WB team

It’s all about energy
I grew up in Ireland, which really mattered in starting my interest in energy efficiency. Petrol in Ireland is three times the price of gas in the US. Cost is really the driving force behind improving energy efficiency. And this need has led to the development of some really creative solutions.
I’m always looking to learn more about energy programs. I’m a Certified Energy Manager, a Registered Low Carbon Consultant (conferred by the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers, UK & Ireland), and registered as a Building Energy Rating Assessor for Commercial and Residential Buildings (by the agency Sustainable Energy Ireland).
Most interesting energy project I’ve worked on
It has to be the Tiffany & Co. headquarters relocation project. This 250,000 sq. ft. project is LEED Platinum certified for CI, and earned one of the highest ratings ever for a LEED project. We designed a customized energy and water monitoring system so that Tiffany can assess how they are actually doing with respect to their goals of reducing consumption.
Where I think the energy industry is going
I that our industry is going to want to see more and more in terms of quantifiable results. LEED is a well-intended program, but it can be hard to quantify the positive impact of designing to a LEED standard. ASHRAE’s Energy Audit program is better at showing real, quantifiable savings. I see other programs like ASHRAE’s BEQ (Building Energy Quotient) becoming more attractive to building owners.
I play it. I watch it. I coach it. I’m a raving fan. I think its popularity will explode after the Olympics in 2016.
Our founders. Our leaders. The visionaries. The people who take the final ownership for our work. David, Vinny, Peter, Peter, Mike, Tom and Craig have a great balance of experience and ideas. They are Improving The Way Things Are Done everyday, and making sure that we do, too.
