The best interview of my career

I knew Peter Dussault from the industry and I went to college with his brother. My WB interview was at a Jets/Patriots game. The Jets won, but I still knew that this was going to be a great place to work. Twelve years later, I was certainly right about that!

Pitching in

When I first started, it was just Pete and I working at his kitchen table. At lunchtime I would have to run to Staples to get office supplies. From the beginning, this company expected people to pitch in and do whatever it took to get the job done. Long ago Pete got his table back, but the expectation of shared responsibilities, that still remains. It makes for a great place to work.

When the boss asks…

One day early on, Dave called me and told me to go and get LEED accredited. So I did – that same week. I was the first one at WB to earn this certification and one of the USGBC’s early adopters.

Coming, but not going…

In twelve years, I’ve seen a lot of new faces join our team. But I haven’t seen many people leave to join other teams. In the same way, I’ve seen us gain lots of new clients, but not lose existing ones. It really says a lot about who we are. Our approach is about service, service, service. And it works.

Glad to not be them

My brother-in-laws work for big Fortune 500 firms. They hate going to work. That is the exact opposite of my experience!
