The "15-Day" project

This project gave new meaning to the phrase aggressive schedule. Our team provided the mechanical engineering this 10,000 sq. ft. fit-out. A project of this size traditionally takes 10-23 weeks to complete; this project was completed in 15 days. The idea behind the quick schedule was to redefine the speed of construction without sacrificing results. They also wanted the team was to rethink the conventional procurement process, as well as construction methods and materials used in order to get a highly adaptable, sustainable, and energy efficient office environment.

Not only was the team able to get the project done in the 15 days, it was the first project in Boston to earn the USGBC’s LEED Platinum Commercial Interiors certification. Because of the abbreviated schedule, construction energy consumption was reduced by 35% compared to a conventional project. Other sustainable elements that we incorporated into our engineering included raised access flooring with under floor HVAC distribution, under floor plug ‘n’ play power and data distribution, and wireless, batteryless radio frequency switching for lighting controls.
