Helping a client make smart business decisions

This global power generation company was looking for a team to help them make smart strategic business decisions about their new US corporate headquarters. We were very pleased to be asked to be part of their team. One of the ways that we helped them make smart business decisions was by preparing scope, schedule, and cost comparisons which InterGen used as the basis for their decision to send their critical computer systems off-site to a collocation facility.

Their office space included office space, conference rooms, video conference rooms, a café, and a new server room and IDF room.

The server room required specialty systems, including a 30 kVA uninterruptible power supply (UPS), pre-action sprinkler system, and supplemental cooling. The IT design included a flexible Cat6 cabling plant and fiber-optic backbone to interconnect the server and IDF room. The security design included a new access control and video monitoring system which enables InterGen to manage visitor access.  It also provides video security at all points of entry and high-value areas.

Project Services

Using Autodesk AutoCAD MEP 2011, Autodesk Revit MEP 2012 and Autodesk Revit Architecture 2011, developed a 3D model showing how the MEP systems can be laid out in the space. We also created photorealistic renderings.

Fire Protection (Interiors)

Prepared drawings showing distribution piping and locations of sprinkler heads, preaction and/or FM 200 systems.

Designed MEP systems in compliance with the LEED certification requirements. Performed calculations and provided submittals, drawings and narratives for all MEP pre-requisites and credits, as required by the USGBC.

Mechanical (Interiors)

Designed HVAC systems including transfer fans, environmental requirements, controls and management systems.

Plumbing (Interiors)

Designed plumbing fixture locations and rough-in requirements.

Designed a comprehensive physical security system coordinating access control and access card compatibility concerns, visitor management, regulatory compliancy concerns, video security and other corporate security operational objectives.

Technology Consulting

Designed a technology infrastructure, and coordinated performance and layout requirements with business and related technology plans. Addressed equipment spatial requirements, pathways, bandwidth, cabling systems, performance, systems administration, equipment refresh impacts, and ROI analysis on specified infrastructures.
