ASHRAE Level 2 Energy Audits for 900,000 sq. ft.

"This project involved two buildings, two Level 2 ASHRAE energy audits and resulted in two great savings opportunities for our client.

The first location was about 700,000 sq. ft. and had significant legacy issues associated with large, inefficient heating and chilled water central utilities and distribution systems. Following our energy audit, we presented our client with 14 different energy saving opportunities that would potentially reduce the facility’s operating costs by 27%. The client loved the options and loved the opportunity to reduce their operating costs so significantly. In addition, we conducted an alternative energy study to consider solar photovoltaic, geothermal, and wind power sources.

The second location was about 145,000 sq. ft. The building consumed $674,000 annually in energy costs, which equaled about 35,000 MMBtu of consumption. After our energy audit, we presented the client with sixteen energy saving opportunities that could potentially reduce the facility’s operating costs by 37%. Our overall objective was to meet the client’s goal of identifying facility improvements that would improve PUE, lower operational costs and improve productivity.

For both projects, each savings opportunity that we provided included a financial rate-of-return analysis, including first cost and ongoing operating expense savings."
