BNY Mellon

ASHRAE energy audits for LEED certification

BNY Mellon is committed to being a good corporate citizen. As part of that commitment, they asked us to determine the feasibility of pursuing LEED for Existing Buildings Operations & Maintenance (LEED-EB) certification for two of their buildings. The bank had already earned the ENERGY STAR label on both buildings and wanted to understand how those initiatives aligned with the LEED-EB certification criteria and what additional steps would need to be taken to become certified.

We completed an ASHRAE Level I and II energy audits at both locations. We then evaluated the prerequisite and credit requirements for LEED-EB certification and met with building management staff to review building data for each credit and to discuss what processes were in place to support the requirements.

Our final report included the steps that needed to be taken in order to earn LEED credits and the associated costs. We recommended that BNY Mellon pursue LEED Silver certification for both locations.
