Getting back into business after 9/11

Being that our NYC office is downtown, we understood firsthand the need to figure out how to get back to business after 9/11. We worked with Euro Brokers (later acquired by BGC Brokers) to fit-out a temporary space after their World Trade Center offices were destroyed. Getting the job done right was important, but getting it done as quickly as possible was also an important factor driving their business. Their space included two 30,000 sq. ft. floors, with a trading floor, data center, executive offices, conference rooms and general office space.

We designed a specialized air conditioning system and building management system for the trading floor. This included two 40-ton air conditioning units which supplemented the building’s air supply and enabled a 24/7 operation.

For the Tier II, 1,200 sq. ft. data center, we designed two 25-ton CRAC units (with N+1 redundancy). We also designed a 225 kVA UPS system with back-up from an existing generator. Our fire protection team specified a pre-action system (dry pipe sprinkler system) for the data center."
